The Barber Shop is an independent production company and home to Matthew Barber, an experienced freelance Agency and Production company producer based in Sydney.

Mission Statement

I have had the fortune to spend thirty-five years in advertising and production, and through this journey, gained a deeper understanding of what work and producing means to me. Producing is a complex, dynamic endeavour—sometimes enjoyable, challenging, stressful, rewarding, well-paid, or even underpaid. Each project presents its own unique circumstances, and it is within these differences that I find value. I've never been one to chase recognition or boast of my accomplishments. I find purpose and pride in consistently delivering seamless productions—always on schedule, within budget, without panic, and with genuine respect for everyone involved.

Matthew Barber is an exceptionally versatile and collaborative producer based in Sydney, capable of delivering outstanding results across all channels and budgets. Throughout his career, he has earned numerous prestigious advertising awards at Cannes, London, LA, New York, and Sydney. His proudest achievements include winning a coveted black D&AD pencil, receiving an Oscar nomination with his brother, and producing a compelling feature-length documentary. These accolades underscore his dedication, talent, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
