The Barber Shop is an independent production company and home to Matthew Barber, a freelance Agency and Production

company producer based in Sydney.

Mission Statement

Having spent thirty-five years in advertising and production, I've been fortunate to gain a deeper understanding of what this work means to me. Producing is a rich, ever-changing journey—which can be fun, challenging, stressful, well-paid, or underpaid, but always rewarding. Every project has its own story, and I value those differences because there's always an opportunity to learn. I've never been one to chase recognition or boast about my wins; rather, I find purpose and pride in consistently delivering seamless productions—always on schedule, within budget, without panic, and with genuine respect for everyone involved.

Biography

Matthew Barber is an exceptionally versatile and collaborative producer based in Sydney, known for delivering outstanding results across all channels and budgets. Throughout his rewarding career, he has won many prestigious advertising awards at Cannes, London, LA, New York, and Sydney. Some of his proudest achievements include winning a coveted black D&AD pencil, earning an Oscar nomination alongside his brother, and producing a compelling feature-length documentary. These

achievements truly highlight his dedication, talent, and steadfast commitment to excellence.
